Hints on Choosing Your Paris Hotel

by Martyn Davis

Parisian hotel in Paris FranceThere are numerous hotels in Paris to choose from that cater to all types of budgets. You will want to spend some time researching and deciding which one is best for you. From other traveler’s experiences, here is some information to consider when choosing your hotel in Paris.

1 Star Hotels

One star hotels in Paris are generally for those wishing to stay in the city on a budget. Some rooms within the hotels will have their own private bathroom facilities like the Hotel Amarys Simart, whereas others will offer rooms with shared facilities, such as the Port-Royal Hotel and the Hotel des Allies.

Not all budget hotels provide breakfast, so this is something else you may want to check into prior to booking. There are also properties you can stay that have proper cooking facilities, known as a studio room; one such hotel is called the Residence Hotel Pacific.

2 Star Hotels

There are quite a few different types of two star hotels that range in price. Basically it depends on where they are situated and type of facilities they have to offer. The Kyriad Hotel for instance has business facilities, meeting rooms, free WiFi and even a restaurant, whereas the Delos Vaugirard has its own parking facilities.

You may like the idea of being within walking distance of well-known Paris landmarks like the Eiffel Tower. If that is the case, then the Hotel de la Motte Picquet is a great choice. Perhaps you are travelling to Paris as a family, therefore the Hotel Cactus would be a good option as they have a family suite for up to six people.

Paris is an extraordinary city with many historic buildings. Many have been converted into hotels, yet some have been fully renovated to include lifts for those that are less able. Of course those that are just too exhausted after a day of sightseeing to negotiate flights of stairs. There are also hotels that have rooms dedicated to bring comfort and special facilities for the disabled such as the Hotel de la Paix Tour Eiffel.

3 Star Hotels

It is not surprising that there are more three star hotels in Paris than any other category. Again, these properties range in price depending upon their location and the facilities they have to offer.

Throughout Europe it is rare to find many hotels that provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Do you enjoy starting out the day with a nice cup of coffee or tea before breakfast? Then you might want to check the hotels room amenities carefully. Most hotels that provide this service will certainly make a point of this fact. If this is what you are looking for then the both the Best Western Eiffel Segur along with the Hotel Duminy Vendome have in room facilities.
.
You will find that most hotels now provide WiFi and Internet access. If you cannot do without your laptop, check the hotel facilities carefully. Service may only be available in common areas like the lounge or reception areas. There are others that state Internet access in your room, be aware some hotels could charge extra for the service. There are quite a few hotels that offer free Internet access within your room, they include the Hotel Choiseul Opera and the Hotel Jardin de Villiers.

4 Star Hotels

You will find that most Four Star hotels in Paris offer room service that will deliver snacks and hot meals to your room. Some will serve just breakfast while others have food around the clock. Hotel Atala offers this service along with the Amarante Beau Manoir that also has a fitness room in case you want to work off some of those wonderful meals that Paris is famous for.

Most Four Star hotels have their own restaurant that often times they are luxurious and full of ambiance. But of course you want the real luxury of Five Star plus you will find famous boutique style restaurants such as at the Ritz or the Plaza Athenee, but they have price tags to match.

Another plus is both 4 and 5 star hotels in Paris offer suites. It’s such a pleasure to have the extra room to spread out especially if you travel with family and friends. Additionally with higher rated hotels, they tend to have larger rooms. But not necessarily with all hotels, again check with the hotel, they are good at giving you the dimensions of the rooms they offer.

Obviously good planning and research are the keys to getting the most out of your holiday in Paris but we hope this has given you a little insight into the types of hotels available.
